Why signal flow is the first drawing, not the last

Every AV system, a ballroom show, a broadcast truck, a conference room, is a chain of devices passing signal. A signal-flow diagram is the map of that chain: which output feeds which input, over what cable, carrying what format. Crews that draw it before load-in find the missing converter in the shop.
