The documentation layer of AV work, tech packs, preproduction checklists, gear lists, handoff packages, and the habits that keep shows and installs repeatable.
Two crews can carry identical gear. The one with a tech pack, diagram, gear list, cable schedule, IP schedule, contact sheet, loads in faster, troubleshoots faster, and looks like the safer hire, because it is. Documentation isn't overhead on the work; for clients who can't watch you solder, it's the visible part of the work.
Build the habit around two documents: the preproduction checklist that front-loads every question a venue or client will eventually force you to answer, and the tech pack that packages the answers for the crew. Everything else, as-builts, handoffs, change logs, is a variation on keeping those two current.
