Zones, shapes, and underlays

Floor plans, site-map zones, labels, groups, and spatial context on the diagram canvas.

When to use this

Use when the show spans rooms, stages, or FOH vs stage rack locations.

Floor plan underlay

  • Upload a PNG, JPG, or WebP floor plan (max 10 MB per file).
  • Scale and rotate the underlay to align with your layout.
  • Draw devices and zones on top — underlay is reference, not the primary signal doc.

Site map zones

Enable zone map mode to draw polygon areas on the site image — FOH, stage, LED wall, comms closet.

Each zone can hold its own wiring diagram view (flat zone list in current release).

Drill into a zone to document signal flow for that area only.

Tip: Nested sub-zones and cross-zone cable merge are on the roadmap — check release notes for updates.

Labels and shapes

  • Add text labels for areas without devices — "FOH", "Stage Left", "Video Village".
  • Use shapes to highlight coverage areas or note truss positions.
  • Group devices to move subsystems together.

Best practices

  • Keep underlay opacity low enough that ports remain readable.
  • One zone per physical area crews talk about on radio — matches how you call locations on show day.

Common issues

  • Underlay looks blurry — upload higher resolution source; avoid upscaling small images.
  • Underlay misaligned — use rotation and scale controls before placing devices.
