Creating your first diagram

From blank canvas to a saved project in minutes — naming, canvas navigation, and first save.

When to use this

Follow when opening Diagram Builder for the first time or training a new team member.

Create a project

  • From /diagrams, click New Diagram.
  • Enter a clear name: Client — Show — Date or Venue — System.
  • You land on the wiring canvas with an empty workspace.

Navigate the canvas

  • Scroll to pan up/down, Shift + scroll to pan sideways; hold Space and drag for the hand tool (desktop).
  • Ctrl/Cmd + scroll (or pinch on a trackpad) zooms toward the cursor.
  • Use Fit or zoom reset controls if you lose the canvas.

Save your work

WireFlow auto-reminds you to save; use Update Project to write changes to the current diagram.

Save as New creates a duplicate project — useful for alternate layouts without overwriting the original.

Tip: Save early — browser crashes on show week are real.

Common issues

  • Can't edit — you may be on a view-only diagram (free tier limit); see Free plan limits.
  • Blank canvas after refresh — you may have opened before first save; check dashboard for draft.
