Draw a connection
- Click an output port on the source device, then click the destination input.
- WireFlow suggests compatible port types; incompatible pairs are blocked or flagged.
- Connections route as orthogonal lines — drag waypoints if you need cleaner paths.
Connection-aware behavior
Port types group logically — audio TRS variants, network RJ45, video SDI/HDMI, etc.
Generic ports exist for draft mode when you have not finalized connector types yet.
Cable labels and colors
- Label cables when the same path type repeats (SDI-1, SDI-2, CAT6-A).
- Use color coding consistently with your shop standards.
- Labels flow through to wiring plans and exports when generated from the diagram.
Best practices
- Wire program path first, then auxes, multiview, and comms.
- Document spare ports you plan to use for backup — or hide unused ports to reduce clutter.
Common mistakes
- Connecting output to output — check port direction (in vs out).
- Duplicate paths for the same signal without labeling — crew cannot tell primary from backup.
