Adding devices

Pull gear from the preset library, create custom devices, and place infrastructure on the canvas.

When to use this

Use when building out gear on a diagram — cameras, switchers, playback, audio, network.

Preset library

  • Open the device library panel and browse categories (video, audio, network, etc.).
  • Click or drag a device onto the canvas.
  • Presets include common port layouts — adjust labels after placement.

Custom devices (templates)

Free accounts can save up to 5 custom device templates; Pro is unlimited.

Create a device with your port list, optional PNG overlay, and category.

Pro users can publish templates to the Community Library for others to import.

Device appearance

  • Upload a PNG overlay for faceplate realism (subject to image upload limits).
  • Resize device height if you need more port rows visible.
  • Flip ports left/right if your signal flow reads better reversed.
  • Lock devices once placement is final so they are not moved accidentally.

Infrastructure objects

Wall plates, floor boxes, and similar objects represent passive endpoints — useful for install docs and zone diagrams.

Best practices

  • Name instances on the canvas (CAM-1, PLAYBACK-PC) even when the template name is generic.
  • Build reusable templates for gear you own — same router model every week deserves one good template.
